Everybody has a voice…
His name is Cole Raseberger. At just 8-years, Cole organized with schoolmates to protect North Carolina Coastal Forest.
Cole loves the forest and the animals that live there, and was not afraid to take the first step to change things. On second grade, Cole didn’t wait to act.
Cole first asked MacDonald’s “to change their paper just a little bit” because he heard “just a little bit could save a lot of trees”. So he asked his friends to help and sent 2.000 postcards to the head of MacDonald’s. The message was:
“North Carolina Coastal Forest has the highest concentration of different trees species, a quality diversity and wetlands in North America. This forest has the richest temperate freshwater ecosystem in the world. Thousands of acres are destroyed daily and several animals are endangered because they don’t have their habitat anymore.”
MacDonald’s sent him a letter back saying that they would make all their bags thinner.
KFC was the next company Cole asked to change its paper packing. KFC said they could not change it all the way, but they would think about it.
For those who want to make thing, but feel intimidate or nervous to start, Cole give the advice his teacher told him and everybody in the class:
“ Everybody has voice… Don’t be scared. You can always try because when you try, you do usually pretty good!”
Cool Kid!
