Plastic made of fish waste
There is a plastic made from fish waste, scales and skins. It is called Marinatex and was invented by the British Lucy Hughes.
The product was developed for the year-end project of the University of Sussex design course. The United Kingdom produces 172,000 tonnes of fish waste annually and Marina-tex will be able to take advantage of this waste.
This type of bioplastic takes 4 to 6 weeks to decompose and is indicated for single use. The university won the James Dyson Award 2019.
