What is virtual water?
Virtual water is the water that is not visible to us, but exists is every product we buy. All products require water to be manufactured. They are not made of water, but use water in its manufacture: this is virtual water.
Check it out:
A computer consumes 1,500 pounds of water because the materials used in its manufacture need several washes in very pure water. It takes more water to make a computer of a refrigerator.
The industry is responsible for the use of the second largest share of water in the world, 22% of fresh water.
