Surfists create a perfect eco skate
“Since its beginning , skateboarding, originally known as sidewalk surfing ” has been a way for surfers to be stoked between the surf sessions”. (Save Waves, Facebook)
And , it is not surprising that three surfers friends, Ben Kneppers, David Stover, and Kevin Ahearn had the brilliant idea of creating a skateboard made with fish net. After reasearch, they found that fishing nets could become a kind of plate replacing shapes.
The company Bureo is based in Los Angeles but they have developed this innovative project in Chile under the name of “Net Positiva”.
Skateboard “Minnow” is covered with a design of colorful fish scales. Each skate uses about 30 square meters of fishing nets collected, and the wheels are made of vivid colors with 30% vegetable oil and have 100% of its recycled cores.
The young people have got their collective funding on Kickstarter and the product will be available for online purchase for U.S. $ 145 on August 10.
