Elephants never forget
Every November , a herd of elephants come to Mfuwe Lodge hotel in Zambia. Quietly, elephants cross the lobby in search of the mangos . They come in pairs and the hotel staff and visitors are already used to the event. They take 4 to 6 weeks to consume the blessed mangos.
The mangos have been there since a long time. One day when returning in search of the fruits, the elephants found a new hotel and walked through it to get the sleeves. According to the manager of the hotel , there has never been an incident .
In fact , the hotel was built without knowing it was going to cross the animals ‘paths . It was not a design error or simply ignorance . One day they came and crossed the lobby !
Elephants come back to places that have meaning for them . They have an excellent memory and recently scientists have discovered that they need to memorize all the places where the water is . They drink about 225 liters of water per day!
According to Andy Hogg, the manager: ” This is the only place in the world where elephants get so close to human beings. The demand for rooms is huge in November , which is when the mangos are at their best . ”
