Recycling uniforms
Bizarre? No, it can be pretty cool!
Volunteers from the Catholic University in Jhogli Chung Yuan, Taiwan, recounted the joy of a cambodian boy with his recycled uniform! Young people were thrilled with the boy who told his old winter uniform was his favorite outfit and who wore it day in and day out.
The uniform was donated by sports Xinggu Elementary School in New Taipei and despite the long sleeves, he dressed in the hottest days.
Chang Yu-ting, one of the students who took part in the mission in Cambodia said: “Though recycling clothes is a simple act, it can cross borders and help people in need in many different places.”
During the Cambodian mission, the volunteers also painted animals and sea creatures on the walls of libraries in several villages to help local children learn about the world through pictures.
The University of Taipei also promoted charity events to raise money to build cement walls for libraries in Cambodia. Children will be able to read without worrying about bad weather.
Taiwan is a small country, but ranks 19th place in the list of economic wealth in line with GDP (total output of goods and services of a country) and Cambodia is in place 101st.
