World Car Free Day in Rio
Despite the slow traffic in some parts of the city, the Traffic Company in Rio de Janeiro has estimated 105.000 less trips made by cars. In Downtown and South region the release of CO2 in atmosphere has been reduced in 70%. The iniciative of bloking 2.000 parking spaces has worked and 330 cars received bail.
World Car Free Day is every September 22nd , when millions of people worldwide celebrate this day leaving their car in the garage.
On Wednesday, Rio de Janeiro joined many other cities in the world taking part at the Day without cars. .
More than 30 streets in several parts of the city will have the speed limited to 30 km / h. Trafficwill be slow in protest!
The cars take space out of the streets. They damage the environment, and pollute our ears with the horrible horns!
So, better to go by bike, walk or public transport.
In the latter case, take a ride with your friend or girlfriend to decrease the number of cars on the street!
Be smart, exercise your body and save energy for your future!
